Every person has their favorite movies, but not many are aware of the impact behind these films. "127 Hours" is one of them. The movie's portrayal of real life events can get anyone thinking. Pitch Black tells the story about a man who finds himself stranded in the vast desert, fighting for his life after being separated from his group during a hike. When he starts running low on water and desperate for help, he has no choice but to resort to drastic measures in order to stay alive. Based on the true story that happened in real life in 2003, this well-crafted film makes it evident that you never know when your time will be up and how far you'll go when pushed to your limits... "127 Hours" takes its audience on an emotional ride that leaves you with a sense of hope and appreciation for life. The movie, which was originally titled "Between a Rock and a Hard Place", is an adaptation of Aron Ralston's memoir about his adventure. A true story this film is based on, " 127 Hours" shows how far one man will go to survive. James Franco plays the lead character, Aron Ralston, who finds himself trapped in the Utah desert after slipping and falling down a narrow crevice while hiking with friends. The movie begins with Ralston and two companions Jim and Sean (played by Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) climbing up Blue John Canyon in Utah. They eventually meet with an outdoors enthusiast named Ted (played by Danny Boyle). The three later reach the end of their hike and Aron decides to go on his own, wanting to finish the trip solo. While he continues his hike, he comes across a beautiful rock that is very difficult for him to pass. He chooses to climb down into a narrow crevice in order to get around it. As he begins climbing back up the narrow crevice, it becomes increasingly difficult for him to do so with all of his bags weighing him down with equipment and water. Ralston begins calling for help when he discovers that the area is untravelled by anyone else in months, but nobody hears his cries for help. He continues to struggle, getting cuts and bruises along the way, until he breaks his ankle. This injury left him trapped in the crevice, since he could no longer support the weight of his body with only one foot. He attempted to amputate his own arm so that he can survive long enough for someone to find him before it is too late, but it is unsuccessful. After five days of being stuck in the crevice, Ralston grows more desperate for water. He awakes early in the morning and decides that he will drink his own urine in order to stay alive. As time continues to pass by in the narrow crevice, Aron begins having hallucinations due to dehydration which makes him depressed and lonely. He eventually takes out his knife and begins to carve words into the dirt that surround him. He carved the word "HELP" into the dirt, which helped him stay sane throughout his time trapped in the crevice. After he finishes carving his words, Ralston lies down and begins to pray for his rescue. After several days, Aron realizes that he must amputate his arm if he wants to survive. Once again, he takes out his knife and carefully amputates his arm below the elbow with only one hand. Many hikers finally come across Aron's car after three days of hiking over very hot terrain over 80 degrees. cfa1e77820
